Starbucks Redesign

UX Design
My Role
End-to-End Designer
Project Duration
June - September 2020, September 2021

As a Starbucks barista in 2018-2019 and in the spring of 2020, I saw a huge shift in how customers used the Starbucks mobile app. I fielded a lot of ordering questions from my position behind the register, trying to help older customers navigate ordering and paying in a way that was new to them.
Many customers were surprised to learn about how many options they had when it came to customization, despite being frequent mobile order customers.

With the company facing huge pandemic-related losses and a new focus on no-contact payment (as of September 2020 the app has expanded to include more ways to pay online), I created a design that would onboard new users easily and allow for more seamless beverage customization. I ensured my design stuck to the Starbucks Creative Expression guidance.
